The Similan Islands are a national park of the Kingdom of Thailand and are among the top ten places on earth for diving and recreation. The islands are located 100 km northwest of Phuket. The rich underwater world fascinates not only divers who have long since chosen these places, but also ordinary tourists who like to sunbathe and go snorkeling. You will see all the diversity of the tropical underwater world and maybe even swim with a turtle. Divers from all over the world come here hoping to swim with the whale shark, the largest fish on earth, but absolutely safe.
The Similan Islands (Similans) are located 100 km northwest of Phuket Island. Similan has no airport, no hotels, and not even a pier.
Boats with group excursions usually depart from the mainland. The journey from different parts of Phuket is 1.5-2 hours by bus and 1.5 hours by speedboat. Only stormy weather and a large wave can prevent visiting Similan during the season, which can usually be seen in advance according to forecasts.
The Similan Islands are a national park of the Kingdom of Thailand and are among the top ten places on earth for diving and recreation. They are famous for their snow-white beaches and incredibly clear, turquoise water. In recent years, two-day excursions to Similan are prohibited, only one-day excursions are held.
During the Similan tour, you will visit 2 beaches (on the 4th and 8th islands) and make 2 stops for snorkeling in the open sea, near the islands. You will have the opportunity to climb to the famous «sail». This is the name of the rock standing on the top of the cliff on the 8th island.
Tourists are allowed to visit Similan from October to May, the most suitable time to visit can be considered from January to April. The average temperature at this time is +29C, preferably sunny weather without rain.
The Similan Islands are famous for the diversity of their underwater world. There are whales, dolphins, whale sharks, manta rays. Quite often, tourists meet turtles while snorkeling (swimming with masks and tubes from a boat).
A group tour is the most budget-friendly way to visit Similan Islands. The tour price includes a transfer to the port, speedboat, lunch, sometimes a light breakfast and afternoon tea, snorkel masks. The program on Similans is almost unchanged: 2 stops on islands 4 and 8 with access to the beaches, as well as 1 or 2 stops for swimming from the boat.
